The Beach in the Winter

If you know me, you know that I hate the summer heat.  I have never been able to stand the heat.  When we went to Ocean Island, I would either be in the ocean or up at the house under the covered deck.  My early days in the sun are starting show.  I have to go to the dermatologist every 3 months to have precancerous moles removed.  I love being tan, but hate the process.

Last week Buddy and I went to the beach.  We left on Wednesday morning and arrive back home on Sunday night.  The weather was perfect for me.  It didn’t rain until Sunday when we were leaving.  The rain held off until we got to feed the gulls one more time before we left.

Our condo was  just awful!  The carpet was dirty and not vacuumed every day.  The sheets were not of any quality, and there was no mattress pad on the mattress.  We took the mattress off the bed and placed it on the floor in the living room so we could hear the ocean at night.  We left the sliding glass doors open for the ocean breeze.  We cooked all of our meals in, except for the last night.  We went to a wonderful fondue restaurant and the meal was excellent.  It brought back memories of the 70″s.  It reminded me just how much I love to fondue.   I’ll have to fondue sometime soon. Buddy rented a car for the trip.  He didn’t want to put the miles on my car or his.

Another view from our balcony.

Our 19 story condo in the distance.

Love those gulls!

I had never been to Broadway on the Beach so Buddy took me there on Friday.  Lots of shops.  We had our picture taken in one of those photo booths.  Fun!

There were beautiful sculptures through out the area.

Buddy being patriotic.

When Buddy posed for this picture, the water was running.  When I went to stand in front of the falls, the water stopped.

Here we are with no water.

I love the waves.

More waves.

Can’t you hear the waves?

Sea foam.

Working a puzzle in the evening.

Sun rise.Lots of sea gulls.

All in all, we had a wonderful relaxing time.  I need the ocean.  When I am away for any length of time it saddens me.  I come to the ocean and my soul is renewed.  I hope to rent a house at the end of the summer and have Nicole and Chuck come and enjoy the ocean once more.  It has been many years since Nicole has been to the beach.

Until next time,

Blessings!

  • You guys are too damn cute!! Sorry about the condo, but the view looks spectacular. Christine and I had a rather memorable evening at Broadway at the Beach many years ago. We danced our buts off and had a ball! The ocean is to you is what the woods/creeks is to me. I completely understand. Sounds great about the beach this summer. When Chucklebutt gets home we will need to look at calendars.

Can’t wait to see you in a few days. Better start cleaning!! 😀
