Valentine Weekend

For Valentine’s Day, we decided to get away for the weekend.  We didn’t want to go far, but far enough to know that we weren’t in Asheville anymore.  One of my favorite places to go is Lake Lure.  It is so quiet and beautiful any time of year.  I checked out the different B&B’s and found the best in the area.

The Lodge on Lake Lure was amazing!

We left around noon on Sunday.  We were planning to have lunch on the lake at Larson’s.

Near the lake.

We arrived at Larson’s around 1:00pm and had a delicious lunch.  This is the view of the lake from our table.  That’s pink lemonade on the table.

After lunch we head to the Lodge.

Entrance to Lodge.

The bed was like something out of a fairy tale!

It was the most comfortable bed I have slept in in a long time.

We had a wonderful sitting area with a fireplace.  We had a fire going the entire time we stayed there.  So warm and cozy.

The bathroom was a dream.  You could take a bath in the tub and look out over the lake.  There were two pedestal sinks and a walk in shower.

You know I had to take a bath that night and look at all the stars.  It was really beautiful!

View from our private balcony.

Valentine gifts on the bed.

Close up of gifts.

The sun setting from our balcony.

Another view from our balcony.  There was nothing but nature surrounding us.

Sitting on the balcony got chilly at night.

The next morning, Miss Arlene made a delicious breakfast.  She has been with the Inn for many years, and people come back just for her cooking.

Miss Arlene’s omelets were wonderful.  They had fresh fruit cups every morning.  You could order just about anything you wanted.

After breakfast we went for a walk around the lodge.  The owners just happen to be there at this time and the woman took us on a tour and showed us some of the other rooms.  This is a picture of the back of the lodge.  All the rooms on the ground floor share the same large patio.

That’s our room at the very top.  Those windows are were the tub us located.

View from their dock.

Another view.

Buddy sitting on the dock.  It was cool outside and we needed jackets.

Because it was still winter, there were no flowers in the gardens.

I hope to go back sometime in the spring and see the flowers.

Front of the lodge.

This is the entrance to the lodge.  I have a close up of the flags on the left.  Do you know what country the owners come from?

That is the US flag, NC flag and the country they come from, South Africa. Before we left, we went around and took pictures of the main rooms.  The owners said they are in the process of redoing all of them.

I have a better picture of the screen in the background.

It was all hand painted.   It was a work of art.

Another room.

Balcony in the other room.

I feel in love with this painting of an old chair and old boots.  It is hanging on the way down the stairs to other rooms.

Chandelier in the main room.

Weather vane on top of the lodge.

And that is what we did that weekend.  Celebrated just being alive and finding each other.

Blessing!
