Forgot my camera

I went to Charlotte this past Wednesday with several friends.  I can’t believe I forgot my camera! We went to a beautiful outdoor mall.  The flowers were beautiful and there were so many wonderful fountains.  No pictures.  We shopped in a wonderful paper goods store that had beautiful handmade paper.  I didn’t go too crazy.  I did, however, buy some beautiful hand dyed silk ribbon.  I’m a real fool for ribbon.  From there we went to IKEA.  Wow!!  I had never been and I was in for a shock.  The place must be several football fields long.  All the furniture is displayed in a setting it could be used in.  For example, the showed a furnished 350 square foot apartment and how to use their furniture to it’s best advantage.  I never knew you could but so much into such a small space and make it not only look good, but spacious.  They are amazing.  Sorry, no pictures.  I am going to the River District Art Walk tomorrow so I will try to remember my camera.

I wanted to show a book I made this past winter.  It was just for my own enjoyment(very unusual).  I started it in the Fall and finished it when I went to visit Nicole at Christmas.

This is the cover of the book.

Pretty vintage lace and ribbons.

I loved these two children with flowers in their hair.

T his is my favorite quote from The Color Purple.  I always wanted to use it in some kind of art work.

What’s not to like about this picture?  That little girl would put a smile on anyone’s face.  She is just precious!

I just love snow scenes.

Aren’t they sweet little girls?

I know flowers always brighten my spirit.  Richard use to bring me flowers all the time.  Some how it’s not the same when you buy your own flowers.  Still beautiful and uplifting, but not the same.

This lovey little girl only needed some crystals added to her hair to complete the picture.

Truer words were never more spoken.

AMEN!

This picture was taken just before we left for the airport.

Hope you enjoyed the book.

Blessings.

Sunday Afternoon

Yesterday was my BAG group. Remember Book Artist Group.  There were only four of us, however, a lot of ideas and some beautiful crafts were shown.  Jean told me that Mimi was displaying her work at the Folk Art Center this weekend, so I headed on over as soon as our group was over.  Mimi is a wonderful paper artist.  She makes the most beautiful paper I have ever seen.  She lives in Weaverville.  One sheet of her paper will cost from $15 to $30plus. When I go to the center she was there making demo papers.  The demo papers were only $3 dollars.  Well, I just grabbed a good selection.  Now see if you can follow this.  Carla’s husband, the girl who does my hair, is related to Mimi.  I ran into Carla at the center.

You can’t see much of the building in this picture but it’s two stories with lots and lots of window.  You are not allowed to take pictures inside.  I guess they think you might steal someones ideas.

Since Nicole and I are going to Ireland, I thought it might be nice to buy something from Western North Carolina to give to our B&B hosts.  I found this cute salt and pepper shaker set.  What better gift to give someone who owns a B&B.  Maybe they will use them.

I liked the feel of the roundness in my hands.

This is a close up of the salt shaker.  Can  you see the little lady bug on top?  I thought it was cute.

It’s  Sunday afternoon and I haven’t done much of anything.  I did one load of wash, and watered some plants.  I don’t have AC and I’m too hot to do much of anything.  I keep meaning to clean up my craft room, but I just can’t find the energy. Maybe tomorrow.

Blessings.
