Tinsel Trading

We all headed out for NYC around 11:00 on Saturday morning. Thank God Peter can drive in the city.  Buddy was amazed and I think he was most impressed with Pete’s driving skills.

One Hell of a driver!

One very impressed country boy!

Jeannie and I sat in the back seat (like all the Italians) and just enjoyed the ride.

We arrived at Tinsel Trading and I just couldn’t believe my eyes!  Everyone talks about how wonderful the store is, but you really have to see it to believe it!

Just looking in the window got me excited.  I couldn’t wait to enter the magic store.

Are you ready for this?  I have never seen so much beautiful ribbon in one place in my life.  The prices ranged from $2.00 a yard to $80.00 a yard.  The most expensive I purchased was $20.00 a yard and then I only got one yard.  Feast your eyes on the following pictures.

From ribbons, let’s switch to flowers.

The store went on forever.  It wasn’t a big store, however, they filled every space available.

After shopping, the men picked us up and we went for a late lunch.  It was a favorite restaurant of Pete and Jeannie.  The Palma restaurant was fabulous!  We started off with two appetizers.  Risotto balls and a special kind of green olive.

We ate the green olives like they were candy.  After we ate, we went to a special deli where you can buy them.  Pete bought some for the cook out the following day.

The risotto rice balls just melted in our mouth.

Jeannie had the calamari as an appetizer.  I’m not a fan.

For lunch I had the clams and linguine.  To die for!!!

Jeannie had the fried artichokes.  Notice the beautiful plates.

Pete and Buddy had some kind of lamb dish.

As you can see from this picture, the court yard where we ate was very small.  I think it only had 4 tables.

This was in back of Jeannie.  Not much of a view, however, the food made up for the lack of a view.

We are on the road to making Buddy an Italian.

Peter with eyes open.  Truly a first!

I love this picture.  Unfortunately, Peter has his eyes closed.  When we left we went to the deli.  I got tired of standing so I went outside to sit on a bench.  Right in front of me there was a group of men sing the old 50″s style of music.  I loved it!  Jeannie bought a tape and we listened to it on the way home.  On the way home, we got stuck in traffic for a couple of hours.  Some things never change.

The Be Bop Boys.

Tomorrow I will tell you about our big cook out.  Until then,

Blessings

VACATION

I have been gone for 11 days.  And what a wonderful 11 days they were.  I haven’t seen my sister Jeannie in 5 years and I thought it time I paid a visit.  Buddy came with me to meet the family and he did most of the driving.

Buddy driving.

We left on June 1st and stayed until the 11th.  When we arrived on Wednesday night, Pete had supper all ready.  He made escarole and beans.  Buddy never had it before, and he loved it.  I think we have made an Italian out of this sweet country boy.  We visited for a while then we headed off to bed after such a long drive.

We got up late on Thursday and pretty much stayed close to home.  I did anyway.  Everybody went shopping.  I played with Pete and Jeannie’s new dog, Mikey.  What an adorable dog.  I fell in love with him and so did Buddy.  Mikey and Buddy became best friends.

Because he is not quite trained, he stays in the laundry room when nobody can watch him.

Mikey is such a doll baby!

When everybody came home from shopping we took some pictures out on Jeannie’s deck.  The weather was just beautiful!  It was cool and breezy.  It seemed more like fall than summer.  Summer came on the last 3 days we were there.

Sitting out on the deck.

Buddy loved being outdoors in such wonderful weather.

Doesn’t my sister look great?

When the men came back from Lowe’s, they were assigned to put the potting soil into the pots.  They did a pretty good job.

This picture of Jeannie going through her coupons before she went shopping.

I really missed my family.  5 years is too long to go without seeing each other.

Jeannie and Peter.

On Saturday we went into the city just so I could go to a place I have wanted to go for ages.  I’ll give you a hint and I will continue this blog tomorrow.

Do you know where I went?

Blessings!
