Lavender

After our wonderful trip to the North, we stayed home and looked for things to do around Western North Carolina.  We were watching the PBS channel and they were telling what things were happening around WNC.  They mentioned a lavender festival up near Boone.  It sounded very interesting so we made plans to head out on Saturday.  It was storming on Saturday and we thought we would have to scratch our idea, however, by early afternoon it began to clear off.  We headed out.  It took a long time to get there with all the road construction, however, we made it around 2:30pm.  They told us we had to pay and I had a problem with that.  I told them that we didn’t want to tour the fields because they were too wet.  We only wanted to shop in their store.  They let us in to shop.  Wise move on their part, because we spent more money on lavender than any ticket would cost.

They had pale lavender hydrangea.  I have seen purple but never pale lavender.

Another close up of the flowers.

Can you guess what this is?  Hint- it was delicious!

It was lavender cheese cake!!  Yes, lavender cheese cake.  Buddy and I just love it.  Wish I had the recipe.

They were also selling lavender plants.  I have one in my garden so I didn’t buy any.

Lavender chairs.

Yard art.A small lamb coming out of a lavender barn door.  Too blurry, I know, but he or she was cute.

Buddy in front of the lavender shop.  He is such a sweetie.  He bought me enough lavender to last until Christmas.

Beautiful art work on barn.

Beautiful flowers all over the property.

I bought some lavender soap for migraines, lavender oil, lavender spray, and lavender dried flowers for baking.  The soap is a work of art with a beautiful dragonfly on the top.  I also bought a special soap dish so the soap won’t get gunky.  You know what I mean.

Blessings!
